Honors student Katie Serba presented her research at the International Whale Shark Conference in Australia during the summer of 2019. Here is a brief description of her experience:
“I was actually the only undergraduate at the conference, so I was able to make many new connections with other researchers and professors, as well as share my research and how it can be applied to conservation to the Director of the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation, and Attractions. All delegates also got to spend a day on the water with various ecotour companies to swim with whale sharks (which was my first time seeing one in the wild!), and experience how Western Australia regulates ecotourism.”
