Dr. Kacy Tillman, Professor of English and Writing and Co-Director of the Honors Program at UT, gave the last symposium of the fall 2020 semester. She discussed her recently published book, Stripped and Script: Loyalist Women Writers of the American Revolution. Dr. Tillman described how these women were faced with challenging decisions – to save their property or maintain their allegiances; to protect other loyalists or sustain their religious beliefs. Also discussed was the veiled language these writers used to describe violence and rape against women. Over 150 Honors students attended the symposia and asked a number of insightful questions.
