The Honors Executive Council (HEC) on-campus events subcommittee collaborated with Phi Alpha Delta to host a fun four-panel event covering several law topics to enlighten students on navigating various legal issues. Amy Ruiz, Idalis Vento, Antina Mobley, Tim Nelson, and Erin Chisolm joined students to cover criminal law & student policy to familiarize the audience with individuals’ various rights within the criminal justice system and what constitutes criminal behavior. Personal injury and tort liability served as the topic of discussion for the second panel, where Jerry Albrecht and Christina Potter-Bayern discussed potential risks and the preventative measures to take to manage them. For the third panel, family law and the implications of marriage and divorce were examined by Rachel Rudin and Lexy Bubley. Lastly, to end the event, Zarra Elias and Sam Ostrow talked through employment law to assist students in understanding their rights and protections as employees in the workplace. Roughly 50 students attended this event, addressed legal matters, and learned from various emerging leaders.
