Symposium: Dr. Lesley Wolff

Dr. Lesley Wolff, Assistant Professor of Art and Design, gave her talk “Nation on a Plate: Digesting the Art of Mexico” for her symposium on Oct 30, 2023. She teaches courses in museum studies and modern/contemporary art. Dr. Wolff is completing two book projects, a forthcoming volume Nourish and Resist: Food and Feminisms in Contemporary Global Caribbean Art and a forthcoming book on food and art in modern Mexico. Her talk centered largely on an untitled painting said to mark the “creation of mole” (1946) and was a deep dive into Mexican foodways and the ways in which visual images reify the ties between narrative, food, and culture.
