How to Apply for Study Abroad Funding

Did you know that Honors has travel funding? It does, and it’s pretty easy to apply.

Who can apply?

Anyone who is an active student in the Honors Program (i.e. has maintained a 3.5 gpa and has applied to continue in Honors and been accepted) is eligible for this funding.

What’s covered?

Types of costs covered include, typically: flights; ground transportation (taxis/ubers); meals; lodging. While Honors may not be able to cover your entire trip, we will always try to contribute something if the budget allows.

How is funding determined?

The amount of funding is usually distributed based on need, which is determined by working with the financial aid office; that said, if an extenuating circumstance exists pertaining to your application for funding, feel free to use the application to tell the directors about it or email them at honors@ut.edu.

How Do I Apply?

Step 1:

Access the Study Abroad form on Submittable.

Step 2:

Fill out the form and explain the destination, costs you’re trying to cover, and a 200-word essay explaining why you want or need the funding.

Step 3:

If accepted, contact csykes@ut.edu to discuss types of funding covered and how to get reimbursed for your costs.
