Conference Travel: Adam Cieslik attends the Southern Division American Fisheries Society

In my last semester as a senior, I had the opportunity to present at the Southern Division American Fisheries Society meeting in Asheville, NC. This oral presentation was the culmination of my thesis research – quantifying the diet of Mayan Cichlids (an invasive fish species) and any differences in their diets as they mature. I also entered the student competition for oral presentations and won “Best Undergraduate Student Presentation” for my research.

In addition to presenting, I also had the opportunity to listen to talks from other students and state agencies across the Southeast, as well as network with graduate students from a lab that I myself plan to attend.

The success of this research and its communication is thanks to the Honors Program, the Office of Undergraduate Research and Inquiry, the College of Natural and Health Sciences, and the Department of Biology.

Best,

Adam Cieslik
