Partners in the Parks Symposium

Honors student Robert Cooper shared with the UT community his truly formative experience participating in Partners in the Parks last summer at Mammoth Cave National Park. Robert captured on film some of the remarkable things he and his fellow PITP participants experienced while exploring the cave systems in the park, including stunning geological formations, underground river systems, and fascinating critters.

He was so enthralled by what he saw and experienced in the park that he decided to pursue a research project with Dr. Dieringer of the College of Business through which he will examine economic questions related to tourism in the National Parks system.

Robert also provided students with an overview of the application process required for the PITP experience as well as some of the costs associated with the program. He reminded students that the UT Honors program supports up to 3 students for this opportunity and funds airfare and the related registration fees. The deadline to apply to participate in a Partners in the Parks experience for 2024 is March 1st and the application can be accessed here: https://honorsprogram.submittable.com/submit/130049/partners-in-the-park.
